THUNDERBIRD RECEIVES EXCEPTIONAL CPARS RATING

In February 2024 Thunderbird Environmental received an "Exceptional" CPARS rating for services provided to the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston South Carolina during the 2023 Contract Year. The Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS) is designated as the federal government-wide system for collection of government contractor information and rating contractor performance. Federal agencies consider a Contractor's previous CPARS ratings in their source selection evaluations for new contracts. At the top of the CPARS grading scale is the Exceptional rating. This is a milestone for Thunderbird and we want to thank every team member who participated on this project over the past four years.
THUNDERBIRD-HRP JV AWARDED

In February 2024, Thunderbird-HRP JV, LLC was awarded a one-year contract to provide VPIH services to the VA Healthcare facility located in St. Louis, Missouri. The project will involve completion of a HAZMAT survey and abatement oversight at the Veterans Affairs St. Louis Healthcare System (VASTLHCS) John Cochran Division Building 1. EPA Fines Connecticut Firm $34K for Lead-based Paint Renovation Violations

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently fined Connecticut-based residential contractor, Harmony Home Improvement, $34K for violations of the federal lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Rule. Through a detailed audit, EPA discovered that the contractor failed to provide home owners with a lead-hazard information pamphlet prior to beginning the renovation work on homes built before 1978. Also, the contractor failed to ensure that one of the company's subcontractors covered the ground with plastic sheeting to contain lead paint debris and ensure that its subcontractors obtained proper renovator training and certifications. Lastly, the contractor failed to retain all records necessary to demonstrate compliance with the lead-safe work practices required by the federal RRP Rule.
For more information regarding the RRP Rule and other hazardous building materials (HBM) regulations that may apply to your planned renovations, please feel free to contact Darby Hittle at darby@tbirdenv.com.

Thunderbird Attends the 2024 SAME
Small Business Showcase

In February 2024, TBird attended the 21st annual Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Boston Post Chapter's Small Business Showcase in Waltham, Massachusetts. The annual SAME Small Business Showcase gives small businesses a chance to meet Contracting/Procurement staff within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other Department of Defense agencies, and to learn about upcoming small business contracting opportunities. Special thanks to everyone at the Boston Post Chapter of SAME for hosting another incredible small business development and networking event! We appreciate all that you do to include small businesses in the federal government's overall contracting plan.
